NIU NQiX 500 In the test: The best e-scooter under €5,000?
The NIU NQiX 500 is a modern A1-class electric scooter that, according to the 1000PS test report, is particularly impressive in everyday urban use. With a rated power of 5 kW (peak: 9 kW), it reaches a top speed of 100 km/h, and even up to 120 km/h with E-Boost. Two removable 72 V lithium-ion batteries enable a range of up to 95 km, depending on the driving style. The charging time is around 3 hours per battery. The scooter also scores points in terms of equipment: ABS brakes, a comfortable seat height of 810 mm and stable handling thanks to the low center of gravity ensure safety and riding comfort.
In everyday use, the NQiX 500 is well thought out: there is a large storage compartment under the seat that offers enough space for a full-face helmet. The workmanship is high quality and the modular design with interchangeable panels allows for individual adjustments and simple repairs. The NIU app, which can be used to call up riding statistics, use GPS data and set riding modes, is particularly practical. Over-the-air updates are also possible, which keeps the scooter digitally up to date.
Critically, 1000PS notes that the high footboard can lead to a narrow knee angle for people over approx. 1.75 m. The almost silent ride also poses risks in city traffic, as the scooter is often not heard by pedestrians. Despite these points, the NIU NQiX 500 offers a strong overall package with modern technology, good performance and practical benefits - at an attractive price of around 4,500 euros.
